Abraham Lincoln is buried in the Lincoln Tomb located in Oak Ridge Cemetery in Springfield, Illinois. The tomb is the final resting place of Lincoln, his wife Mary Todd Lincoln, and three of their sons
. The Lincoln Tomb is a granite mausoleum featuring an obelisk and several statues and carvings. Inside, Lincoln's remains are interred in a concrete vault about 10 feet below the surface of the burial room, surrounded by a steel cage and encased in concrete for security. This was done after attempts to steal his body in the 1870s and after multiple relocations of his remains since his death in 1865
. The tomb was constructed between 1868 and 1874 and is a designated National Historic Landmark and listed on the National Register of Historic Places
