Spectrum has dropped or is dropping several channels recently due to contract disputes and strategic changes:
- Disney-owned channels dropped include Freeform, Disney Junior, Disney XD, FX Movies, FXX, Baby TV, Nat Geo Wild, and Nat Geo Mundo. These were removed after a contract dispute but some Disney networks like Disney Channel, FX, Nat Geo, and the full ESPN suite remain available. Spectrum is also offering Disney+ and ESPN+ streaming services as part of new agreements
- Paramount-owned channels were at risk of being dropped around April 30, 2024, due to contract expiration. Some less popular Paramount channels like MTV 2, MTV Classic, and other smaller MTV networks are likely candidates for permanent removal to focus on streaming services
- Local channels have been removed in some regions due to disputes over cable payments. For example, out-of-market stations such as WROC CBS (Rochester), WSYR ABC (Syracuse), and WTEN ABC (Albany area) were dropped in early 2024. Spectrum retained in-market stations but dropped duplicates to reduce costs
- SyFy and E! were removed from the Select package earlier due to contract renegotiations
- News Channel 12 and WRNN 2 were dropped or moved in the NY/NJ area in 2024
