To get the Skeleton Key in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, follow these steps:
- Reach Level 10
You must be at least level 10 to start the quest that rewards the Skeleton Key
- Go to the Shrine of Nocturnal
The shrine is located northeast of Leyawiin. Interact with the shrine to start the Daedric quest called "Nocturnal"
- Complete the "Nocturnal" Quest
- After starting the quest, investigate by speaking to NPCs in Leyawiin, including a guard who will direct you to Weebam Nar's house.
- Eavesdrop on Weebam Nar and his wife to learn that the Eye of Nocturnal has been stolen.
- The Eye is located in Tidewater Cave, south of Leyawiin. Navigate the cave, following the left wall to find an underwater alcove containing the Eye of Nocturnal and a chest
- Return the Eye to the Shrine
Exit the cave and return to the Shrine of Nocturnal. Interact with the shrine to complete the quest and receive the Skeleton Key as your reward
About the Skeleton Key:
- It is an unbreakable lockpick that provides a permanent +40 boost to your Security skill.
- It allows you to bypass lockpicking challenges by repeatedly attempting to pick locks without the risk of breaking the key
Additional Tip:
Keep some regular lockpicks on hand as guards can confiscate the Skeleton Key
if you are arrested
. This process will give you the Skeleton Key, making lockpicking much easier and eliminating the need to worry about breaking lockpicks in the future.
