Vybz Kartel was jailed because he was convicted of the murder of his associate Clive "Lizard" Williams. The incident leading to his arrest occurred in 2011 when Williams was allegedly killed at Kartel's home over a dispute involving the failure to return two unlicensed firearms. After a lengthy trial that lasted 65 days, Kartel and three others were found guilty of murder in 2014 and he was sentenced to life imprisonment with eligibility for parole after 32 years.
