Tristan Jass had brain surgery to remove a growth on his brain that doctors had been monitoring for several years. The growth was first identified as a cyst or tumor after he experienced a seizure and began having annual MRI scans.
Medical reason
Doctors originally found a small cyst or tumor in his brain around 2019, after he had a seizure that led to imaging of his brain. Over about six years of follow‑up MRIs, changes in the cyst/tumor made his medical team decide it should be surgically removed to determine exactly what it is and to treat it before it could cause worse problems.
Why surgery was done now
The surgery was scheduled after a recent MRI showed new or concerning features in the long‑monitored brain cyst, indicating that continued observation was no longer the safest option. Removing it now also lowers the risk that it could grow further and lead to more serious neurological issues or make surgery riskier later on.
