Kurt Cobain killed himself primarily due to a combination of chronic physical pain, depression, drug addiction, and mental health struggles. He had an undiagnosed chronic stomach condition causing intense pain, suffered from depression and bipolar disorder, and struggled with alcoholism and heroin addiction. He had a history of suicidal thoughts and even had a prior suicide attempt by overdose in March 1994. Cobain felt isolated, disconnected from others, and deeply troubled by his personal and professional pressures, including the demands of fame and his relationships. These factors culminated in his suicide by gunshot on April 5, 1994 (found April 8). The evidence shows a persistent suicidal urge exacerbated by his physical and mental health issues rather than a singular event.
