The Book of Exodus is traditionally attributed to Moses as its author. Early Jewish and Christian traditions hold that Moses wrote Exodus, supported by internal biblical evidence, such as Exodus 24:4 stating “Moses then wrote down everything the Lord had said.” Moses's unique education in Egypt and his eyewitness role in many events described also support this view. Jesus in the New Testament also refers to the law being of Moses, confirming authorship (Mark 7:10). However, there are modern scholarly views that see Exodus as a composite work from multiple sources compiled later, but the traditional and dominant view remains that Moses wrote Exodus.
