The founder of Islam is Muhammad. He was an Arab religious and political leader born around 570 CE in Mecca. According to Islamic belief, Muhammad is regarded as the prophet who received divine revelations from God (Allah) through the angel Gabriel, which form the Quran, the holy book of Islam. He began preaching the message of monotheism and submission to one God at about the age of 40, around 610 CE. Muhammad is considered the last prophet in Islam, and his teachings established the foundation of the Islamic religion.
