The constitution for India in 1928 was prepared by a committee chaired by Motilal Nehru, with Jawaharlal Nehru as the secretary. This committee drafted the constitutional proposal known as the Nehru Report, which was submitted at an all-party conference held in Lucknow in August 1928. Other members of the committee included notable leaders such as Subhash Chandra Bose, Mangal Singh, Tej Bahadur Sapru, and Ali Imam. The Nehru Report was the first major Indian effort to draft a constitutional framework for India, aiming for dominion status and equal rights among other reforms.
