WFAA, the ABC affiliate television station in Dallas, Texas, is owned by Tegna Inc. Tegna acquired WFAA as part of a merger with Belo Corporation that was completed in December 2013. WFAA operates alongside KFAA-TV, which provides a high-definition simulcast of WFAA's main channel. Tegna has continued to own the station since 2015, after a split from the original Gannett company. Although there was a plan for WFAA to be sold to Cox Media Group as part of a larger deal when Tegna was to be acquired by Standard General and Apollo Global Management, that sale was canceled in May 2023, so Tegna remains the owner of WFAA.
