The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion was developed by Bethesda Game Studios, a United States-based software company. The game was co-published by Bethesda Softworks and 2K Games for its initial Xbox 360 and PC releases, with Ubisoft co-publishing the PlayStation 3 version in Europe. Development began in 2002, right after the release of The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, and the game was officially announced in 2004.
