i-Ready was created by Curriculum Associates, a company founded by educators with a mission to improve teaching and learning. The development of i-Ready began in 2009 and was completed in 2011. The program was designed as an adaptive learning tool for reading and mathematics, providing personalized learning paths based on diagnostic results

The team behind i-Ready was led by Rob Waldron, former president of Score!, who helped develop the highly recognized blended program that includes both an adaptive diagnostic and instruction components.
