Zeus's father is Cronus (also spelled Kronos), the leader of the Titans and god of time in Greek mythology. Cronus was the son of Uranus (Sky) and Gaia (Earth). Fearing a prophecy that one of his children would overthrow him, Cronus swallowed all of Zeus's siblings at birth. However, Zeus was secretly saved by his mother Rhea, who hid him in a cave on Crete and tricked Cronus by giving him a stone wrapped in swaddling clothes to swallow instead. When Zeus grew up, he forced Cronus to regurgitate his siblings and then led a war against the Titans, ultimately overthrowing Cronus and becoming king of the gods himself
