who is usha vance

Usha Vance is an American lawyer and the Second Lady of the United States since 2025, married to Vice President JD Vance. She is the first Indian American, first Telugu, and first Hindu to hold this position. Born in San Diego County, California, to Telugu Indian immigrant parents, she graduated from Yale University with a bachelor's degree in history and from Yale Law School with a Juris Doctor degree. She clerked for several senior federal judges, including Chief Justice John Roberts and Judge Brett Kavanaugh. Before becoming Second Lady, she worked in civil litigation and appeals in areas such as higher education and technology. She has played an advisory role in her husband's political career and participates in public and diplomatic activities as Second Lady.
