The current president of Zimbabwe is Emmerson Mnangagwa. He has been in office since November 24, 2017, following the resignation of Robert Mugabe after a military coup
. Mnangagwa secured his first full term in the disputed 2018 general election and was re-elected in August 2023 with 52.6% of the vote
. He is a member of the ZANU–PF party and has been the only president of Zimbabwe since Mugabe's long tenure ended
. Mnangagwa's presidency has faced significant challenges, including internal party conflicts, public protests, and allegations of corruption and economic mismanagement
. Despite these issues, he remains the incumbent president as of May 2025
