The person on the obverse (heads) side of the U.S. quarter is George Washington, the first president of the United States. He has been featured on the quarter since 1932, the 200th anniversary of his birth, and the current right-facing portrait dates to 2022
. The reverse (tails) side of the quarter changes frequently. From 2022 through 2025, the reverse features designs as part of the American Women Quarters™ Program, which honors American women who have made significant contributions in various fields. The women featured in 2025 are Ida B. Wells, Juliette Gordon Low, Dr. Vera Rubin, Stacey Park Milbern, and Althea Gibson
