Snapchat was created by Evan Spiegel, Bobby Murphy, and Reggie Brown, who were students at Stanford University. The idea originated in April 2011, with Reggie Brown proposing the concept of a photo-sharing app where pictures would disappear after being sent. Spiegel and Murphy then worked together to develop the app initially called "Picaboo," which was launched in July 2011 and later rebranded as Snapchat in September 2011. Reggie Brown was eventually forced out of the company but later settled and was credited as a co-founder.
