Monster Energy was created and first marketed in 2002 by Hansen Beverage Company, which later became Monster Beverage Corporation
. The company’s roots trace back to a juice business founded in 1935 by Hubert Hansen and his sons, but the energy drink itself was launched after Rodney Sacks and Hilton Schlosberg acquired the struggling Hansen Natural Corporation in 1990 and transformed it. Sacks and Schlosberg, both South African emigrants, were instrumental in the success of Monster Energy, turning it into a global powerhouse in the energy drink market
