The three common signs of choking include:
- Inability to speak or talk in complete sentences
- Difficulty or noisy breathing, sometimes with high-pitched sounds
- Clutching or grasping the throat
Other notable signs are weak or ineffective coughing, panicked or distressed behavior, and blue or pale skin color due to lack of oxygen (cyanosis).
