The four presidents carved on Mount Rushmore are George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln. These presidents were chosen to represent the birth, growth, development, and preservation of the United States, respectively. The sculptures are 60 feet high and located in the Black Hills of South Dakota. The monument was designed by sculptor Gutzon Borglum and completed with the help of his son Lincoln Borglum in 1941.
