which direction is the meteor shower tonight

Tonight’s main meteor shower is the Geminids, and they appear to come from the direction of the constellation Gemini near Jupiter in the eastern sky.

Where to look

The Geminid radiant is in Gemini, which rises in the east in the early evening and climbs higher through the night. Meteors will seem to originate from that region, but they can streak across any part of the sky, so a wide, unobstructed view is best.

Practical viewing tips

Face generally east at first, then tilt your gaze higher as the night goes on to keep Gemini in view. Try to get to a dark location away from city lights and give your eyes 20–30 minutes to adjust for the best chance of seeing many meteors.
