Namibia is a country located in the southwestern part of Africa, on the west coast along the Atlantic Ocean. It is bordered by Angola to the north, Zambia to the northeast, Botswana to the east, South Africa to the southeast and south, and the Atlantic Ocean to the west. Namibia also has a narrow extension called the Caprivi Strip in the northeast near the Zambezi River
. Its capital city is Windhoek, situated in the central part of the country. Namibia is known for its arid to desert landscapes, including the Namib Desert along the coast and the Kalahari Desert to the east. It is one of the driest and most sparsely populated countries in Africa
