Fort Stewart is a United States Army post located in the state of Georgia. It lies primarily in Liberty and Bryan counties but also extends into smaller parts of Evans, Long, and Tattnall counties. The nearby city is Hinesville, Georgia. Fort Stewart is about 40 miles southwest of Savannah and roughly 225 miles southeast of Atlanta. It is the largest Army installation east of the Mississippi River, covering about 280,000 acres. Fort Stewart is situated in the southern coastal region of Georgia and is accessible via major East Coast highways such as U.S. 17, I-16, and I-95.
