where is fort stewart

Fort Stewart is a United States Army post located in the state of Georgia. It is primarily situated in Liberty and Bryan counties, but also extends into smaller parts of Evans, Long, and Tattnall counties. The nearest city to Fort Stewart is Hinesville. The base is roughly 40 miles southwest of Savannah, Georgia, and about 225 miles southeast of Atlanta. It is the largest Army installation east of the Mississippi River, covering approximately 280,000 acres. Fort Stewart is home to the 3rd Infantry Division and includes facilities for various types of military training such as tank, artillery, helicopter gunnery, and small-arms ranges.
