Bangkok is the capital and most populous city of Thailand. It is located in central Thailand on the delta of the Chao Phraya River, about 25 miles (40 km) from the Gulf of Thailand. The city covers an area of approximately 1,568.7 square kilometers and has a population of around 10 million people as of 2024. The wider Bangkok Metropolitan Region includes over 17 million people. Bangkok serves as Thailand's cultural, commercial, political, and economic center.
