The UK’s gas primarily comes from a mix of domestic and imported sources. Around 33.8% of the UK’s gas is produced domestically from the North Sea and the UK Continental Shelf. However, the majority, about 66.2%, is imported. The largest single supplier is Norway, providing about 50.2% of the UK's gas supply, mostly through pipelines. The UK also imports liquefied natural gas (LNG) from countries like the United States, Qatar, and others. Imports from Russia are minimal, making up only a small fraction of the UK's gas imports. The UK is working to diversify its gas supply sources while gradually reducing gas consumption as part of its transition to net zero emissions by 2050.
