Bearded dragons live primarily in Australia, where they inhabit a variety of environments, mostly arid or semi-arid regions. Their range covers much of the continent, including:
- Eastern bearded dragons are widespread in New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, and Victoria.

They are semi-arboreal and can climb trees and rocks. At night, they seek shelter by digging burrows or hiding in crevices and caves to protect themselves from temperature extremes and predators
