Archived emails in Gmail are not deleted but moved out of your inbox and stored under the "All Mail" label. When you archive an email, Gmail removes the "Inbox" label from it, so it no longer appears in your inbox but remains accessible in "All Mail" indefinitely until you delete it or move it back to the inbox
. To find archived emails in Gmail:
- On a computer, open Gmail and look for the "All Mail" folder in the left sidebar. If you don't see it, click "More" to expand the menu. Clicking "All Mail" will show all your emails, including archived ones
- In the Gmail app, tap the hamburger menu (three horizontal lines) and scroll down to find "All Mail" to access archived emails
- You can also search for archived emails by using the search bar and filtering out inbox messages, for example, by searching for emails without the "Inbox" label in "All Mail"
If you want to move an archived email back to your inbox, open the email and select "Move to Inbox" or right-click it and choose "Move to Inbox"
. In summary, archived emails go to the "All Mail" folder in Gmail, where they are stored indefinitely and can be accessed or restored at any time
