Pope Francis' funeral is scheduled for Saturday, April 26, 2025, at 10:00 AM local time. The funeral Mass will take place in St. Peter's Square at the Vatican. Prior to the funeral, his body will lie in state in St. Peter's Basilica from April 23 to April 25, allowing the public to pay their respects. After the funeral Mass, Pope Francis will be buried at the Basilica of St. Mary Major in Rome. The funeral service will be presided over by Cardinal Giovanni Battista Re, Dean of the College of Cardinals.
