Hurricane Idalia made landfall near Keaton Beach in Florida's Big Bend region at approximately 7:45 a.m. ET on August 30, 2023. It had rapidly intensified before landfall, briefly becoming a Category 4 hurricane and then slightly weakening to a Category 3 hurricane at landfall with sustained winds of 125 mph. After hitting Florida, it moved through Georgia, the Carolinas, and then out into the Atlantic Ocean by September 1, 2023.
