Sliced bread was invented on July 7, 1928. The invention is credited to Otto Frederick Rohwedder, who created the first bread-slicing machine that could slice and wrap bread. The first commercial sale of pre-sliced bread occurred at the Chillicothe Baking Company in Chillicothe, Missouri, on that date. This innovation significantly changed the way bread was consumed, making it more convenient to use and gradually becoming a staple in households. By 1933, about 80% of bread sold in the US was pre-sliced using this technology.
