The first Japanese dive-bomber appeared over Pearl Harbor at 7:55 AM local time, and the attack lasted just over an hour, involving two waves of assaults by nearly 200 Japanese aircraft. It caused significant damage to the U.S. naval fleet and resulted in more than 2,400 American military and civilian casualties.
