National Trio Day is celebrated annually on the fourth Saturday in February. This day was officially designated as National TRIO Day by a congressional resolution (H. Con. Res. 278) on February 24, 1986, with the first observance occurring on Saturday, February 28, 1986. Since then, the TRIO community has kept the tradition of observing National TRIO Day on the fourth Saturday of February each year as a way to recognize the achievements of Federal TRIO programs and focus attention on supporting disadvantaged young people and adults striving to improve their lives.
