Social Security checks in 2025 are paid based on your birth date and the type of benefit you receive:
- If you started receiving benefits before May 1997, your payment comes on the 3rd of each month.
- If you started receiving benefits after May 1997, your Social Security benefit is paid on a Wednesday depending on your birthday:
- Birthdays on the 1st to 10th: payment on the second Wednesday of the month.
- Birthdays on the 11th to 20th: payment on the third Wednesday of the month.
- Birthdays on the 21st to 31st: payment on the fourth Wednesday of the month.
- Supplemental Security Income (SSI) payments are made on the 1st of each month. If the 1st falls on a weekend, payments are issued the Friday before.
- Some situations (such as receiving both SSI and Social Security or benefits started before May 1997) result in payment dates on both the 1st and the 3rd of the month.
For example, in August 2025:
- Those with birthdays from the 1st to 10th receive payment on August 13.
- Birthdays from 11th to 20th get payment on August 20.
- Birthdays after the 20th get payment on August 27.
- SSI payments are made on August 1.
