The first iPhone, often referred to as the iPhone 1 or the original iPhone, was announced by Steve Jobs on January 9, 2007. It was then officially released and became available for sale in the United States on June 29, 2007. At launch, it came in two storage options: 4GB priced at $499 and 8GB priced at $599, and required a contract with AT&T in the U.S. The first iPhone featured a 3.5-inch touchscreen, a 2-megapixel camera, and ran on the original iPhone OS (now called iOS).
