Islam started in the year 610 CE when the prophet Muhammad received his first divine revelation from the angel Gabriel in a cave on the mountain Jabal al- Nour near the city of Mecca, on the Arabian Peninsula. This event marks the founding of Islam, a major Abrahamic religion, with Muhammad preaching the teachings of one God (Allah) from that time onward.
