Islam began in the year 610 AD when the Prophet Muhammad received his first revelation from the Angel Gabriel (Jibreel) on Mount Hira near Mecca. This event, known as the Night of Power (Laylat al-Qadr), marks the beginning of Islam as a religion, with the revelations continuing over the next 22 years, eventually forming the Qur'an, the holy book of Islam. Muhammad began preaching the message of monotheism and submission to God (Allah), which was a significant spiritual and social transformation in 7th century Arabia.
