Starfield is set in the year 2330. The game's story begins at this time, in a future where humanity has colonized space following major events such as the arrival on Mars in 2050, the founding of the United Colonies and New Atlantis in the 2100s, and the Colony War that ended around 2311. The player starts as a space miner who becomes involved with the Constellation, a group of galactic explorers, shortly after 2330
