Reincarnation is a central tenet of several Indian religions such as Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, and Sikhism. However, it is important to note that not all Hindu groups believe in reincarnation, instead believing in an afterlife. In addition to these religions, reincarnation occurs as an esoteric belief in many streams of Judaism, certain pagan religions including Wicca, and some beliefs of the Indigenous peoples of the Americas and Indigenous Australians. While the majority of denominations within Christianity and Islam do not believe in reincarnation, particular groups within these religions do refer to reincarnation, such as the Cathars, Alawites, the Druze, and the Rosicrucians. Advaita Vedanta, a school of Hindu philosophy, also believes in reincarnation.
