Franklin D. Roosevelt served the most terms as President of the United States. He was elected to four terms, serving from March 1933 until his death in April 1945. Roosevelt is the only president to have served more than two terms, and his fourth term was cut short by his death. Following his presidency, the Twenty-second Amendment was ratified in 1951, which made it so that presidents could only serve a maximum of two terms.
