Many metals are not magnetic, including:
- Aluminum
- Brass
- Copper
- Gold
- Lead
- Silver
- Titanium
- Tungsten
- Zinc
These metals are weak or non-magnetic in their natural states. Some metals that contain iron are also non-magnetic, such as austenitic stainless steels like 304 and 316, which contain a high amount of austenite that makes them mostly non-magnetic. However, the crystal structure of austenitic stainless steel can be altered through work-hardening or special heat treatment to form ferrite in some locations, making them partially magnetic.
