Brandon Blackstock had melanoma, which is a form of skin cancer. He battled melanoma privately for more than three years before he passed away peacefully at his home in Butte, Montana, on August 7, 2025. Melanoma is considered one of the deadliest forms of skin cancer because it can rapidly spread to other parts of the body. His melanoma diagnosis and battle with the illness were kept mostly private throughout that time. The cause of his death was confirmed by the Silver Bow County Coroner as melanoma, with the manner of death being natural causes. Melanoma arises from melanocytes (cells producing pigment in the skin) and is often triggered by ultraviolet (UV) exposure from the sun or tanning sources. Despite being highly treatable if caught early, melanoma can be aggressive when it spreads to other organs. Brandon Blackstock was surrounded by family during his passing after a valiant and private fight with this serious cancer.
