Zazu is a red-billed hornbill, a bird species native to sub-Saharan Africa. He is portrayed in The Lion King as the royal advisor and majordomo to the Pride Lands monarchy. The red-billed hornbill has a distinctive long, curved red bill, a mainly whitish underbelly and head, and black and white speckled feathers on its back.
