There are several ways to kill mosquitoes, both inside and outside your home. Here are some effective methods:

Indoor:

  • Use an indoor insect fogger or indoor insect spray to kill mosquitoes and treat areas where they rest.
  • Install or repair and use window and door screens. Do not leave doors propped open. Use air conditioning when possible.
  • Kill mosquitoes with diluted isopropyl alcohol. Mix an equal amount of 70% isopropyl alcohol and water into a spray bottle. Spray the solution on the screen to kill them, avoiding the central fan motor.

Outdoor:

  • Remove standing water where mosquitoes could lay eggs. Once a week, empty and scrub, turn over, cover, or throw out any items that hold water like tires, buckets, planters, toys, pools, birdbaths, flowerpot saucers, or trash containers. Mosquitoes lay eggs near water.
  • Use EPA-registered mosquito sprays and foggers formulated for the outdoors spread toxins that will eliminate the pests. Use citronella torches or candles to keep bugs away from small areas outside, such as a porch or deck. Fans can blow winds strong enough to disperse mosquitoes outdoors. Electrocuters, or mosquito zappers, use heat and carbon dioxide to attract and kill mosquitoes.
  • Plant naturally-repellent foliage such as catnip, feverfew, citrosa, tulsi, rosemary, and lemon thyme. These plants will act as a natural barrier against mosquitoes.

Its important to note that some home remedies and chemical-free commercial solutions may not have scientific backing and might work best only for small spaces, in certain environments, or against particular mosquito species.
