The Olympic Movement is a concept designed by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) for the modern Olympic Games. It is the concerted, organized, universal, and permanent action, carried out under the supreme authority of the IOC, of all individuals and entities who are inspired by the values of Olympism. The goal of the Olympic Movement is to contribute to building a peaceful and better world by educating youth through sport practiced in accordance with Olympism and its values. The Olympic Movement is composed of three main constituents: the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the International Sports Federations (IFs), and the National Olympic Committees (NOCs). In addition to these three constituents, the Olympic Movement is made up of all the organizations that recognize the IOCs authority, including the Organizing Committees for the Olympic Games (OCOGs), athletes, judges, and referees, associations and clubs, as well as all the IOC-recognized organizations and institutions. The Olympic Movement embodies and promotes the Olympic philosophy, or Olympism, which promotes social responsibility, universal respect, and good mental, physical, and emotional health through sport and cultural education.
