The most dangerous type of skin cancer is melanoma. It is the deadliest form due to its ability to spread quickly to other parts of the body and organs if not caught and treated early. Melanoma originates in melanocyte cells, which produce skin pigment, and when these cells become mutated, they can grow uncontrollably and invade deeper skin layers or metastasize. The survival rate for localized melanoma is very high, but it drops significantly once melanoma spreads beyond its original site. Other common skin cancers like basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma are less likely to be fatal, as they tend to grow slower and rarely spread to other parts of the body if treated in time.
