Semitic religions refer to the Abrahamic religions, which include Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. These religions share a common belief in God, the hereafter, and the constant battle between good and evil. Semitic religions may also refer to ancient Semitic religions, which were polytheistic and practiced by ancient Semitic peoples. These religions included Canaanite religions of the Levant, the Sumerian-inspired Assyro-Babylonian religion of Mesopotamia, the religion of Carthage, Nabataean religion, and Arabian polytheism. The Semitic religions of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam occupy a prominent and honored role in the Bahai teachings. The Bahai Faith also recognizes the essential oneness of these great faiths, as the books of the Semitic religions consciously build upon one another.
