RSW stands for Registered Social Worker. It is a credential that indicates that a therapist is a member in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW) . This means that they have completed a masters degree in social work and have met the ethical and professional requirements to obtain this standing. RSWs are trained to assess, diagnose, treat, and evaluate individuals, interpersonal, and societal problems using social work knowledge, skills, interventions, and strategies. They are not able to diagnose people or prescribe medications. If you have extended health benefits, review your plan as most insurance providers cover sessions with an MSW, RSW.
