Private DNS is a feature that allows users to encrypt their DNS queries and keep them safe from prying eyes. DNS stands for Domain Name System, which is effectively the phonebook of the internet. It is the technology that makes it so we don’t need to remember the IP addresses network devices use to locate or contact each other. Private DNS networks are separate from public DNS networks and offer added security encryption protocols that hide DNS queries over the network. Private DNS mode can be enabled on Android, iOS, Windows, and macOS devices. To enable Private DNS on Android, users need to open the Settings app, go to Network & Internet, enable Private DNS, and add a provider that offers secure DNS.
