Hamilton the musical is a sung-and-rapped-through biographical musical by Lin- Manuel Miranda that tells the story of Alexander Hamilton, one of the American Founding Fathers. It covers his life from his early years as an orphan in the Caribbean, through his involvement in the American Revolution as George Washington's right-hand man, and his influential role in shaping the early United States political system. The musical also portrays his personal life, including his marriage, affair, and rivalry with Aaron Burr, which culminates in the famous duel where Hamilton is fatally shot. The story is told with a hip hop, R&B, pop, and traditional Broadway musical style, casting non-white actors as the Founding Fathers to present "America then, as told by America now".
